Wanna get your DH on this summer? Well, the Yukon's original gravity-fed festival, Slamfest, is back! Come out to Mt Sima July 20 and 21 for two main events and a lot of good times! Justin Mullan is going to ensure that Whitehorse has a downhill event this summer and cmbc is helping out where we can.

There will be prizes, kids events, and adult races for different bikes and skill levels, as well as food and refreshments on site. The grounds will open at 10:00 daily and shuttle runs to the top will be provided for practice.

This year there will be two main events:

Saturday - Enduro, to test your skill and stamina, only times down the trails will count toward your overall, set start times will be made for each stage of the Enduro and you have to get there on your own steam, miss your start time you're out... Anticipated start time 3pm.

Sunday - DH Finals, main DH course for advanced racers and a secondary course for those who are a bit more reserved and the younger competitors. Anticipated start time 1pm.

Cost: $35 to compete in one event $40 to compete in both. Cash or cheque only.

Registration forms will be available at Icycle sport from Friday the 12th until Friday the 19th. If you miss registration at Icycle you will have an opportunity to register Saturday morning before the race but this will cut down on your riding time...

Full face helmets will be mandatory for the Advanced DH race on the black course. For all other races only a helmet is mandatory but as always proper protective gear is recommended.

If you aren't interested in riding then please come a volunteer, you get the best view of the action.

Big thanks to the Great Northern Ski Society/Mt. Sima for making the planning of this a possibility on such short notice.

Spread the word!
