Looking for a few good volunteers

The planning for the 15th annual 24 Hours of Light is well underway and it is going to be another great Yukon event. However, the more volunteers we have to help out, the better it will be. Truth be told, we can't actually run this event without getting some help and so here is our annual call. Whether you want to volunteer instead of race or you can give us a couple of hours of your time between laps, we have a job for you.

Here's what we need:

People in the timing tent: Although we do use a chip timing system, it's important to have someone in the timing tent to ensure that laps are being recorded correctly and to update total lap numbers as the race progresses.

Parking attendants: On Saturday morning, help RVs and campers get into the biathlon range and others to park in appropriate areas on the Grey Mountain Road.

BBQers: We've got the meat (or the TVP, if that's your preference) but we need someone to barbeque it! Help roast smokies for Saturday's evening snack.

Bartenders: We will have a beer garden onsite which means we need a few people to serve alcohol on Saturday night.

Breakfast Champs: Help acquire and serve breakfast on Sunday morning.

Captain of Fun: If anyone out there wants to take over the mike and keep the party going, we want to hear from you!

To say thank-you to everyone who volunteers, we will be putting your name into a draw for a really sweet prize. Donated by Icycle Sport, there'a a Kona Humuhumu bike up for grabs this year!

Here's how it works:

Get yourself over to our online sign up sheet to choose what position you want to fulfill. https://www.volunteersignup.org/Q3KH9

For every 2 hour shift you sign up for, your name gets entered in the draw. For those of you who sign up for the timing tent between midnight and 6am, we will throw your name in the hat an extra time.

Some come out and lend a hand this year.

It's fun and it's good karma.
